Kids DERBY

The kids derby went well again this year! Thank you to our supporters and sponsors for making this happen. And a special thank you to our Parks and Wildlife officer, Kristen, for providing the rods, reels, and tackle for the kids.

Summer at the farm

Business as usual down at the farm. Not a lot of new developments to report other than we passed our biology test and a new generation of fish have been delivered to the farm. Thank you to Colorado Parks and Wildlife for donating the fish!

Summer Fishing at the kids ponds

Unfortunately due to the closure of the gates at the inflow of the ponds, fish have not been stocked. So fishing is slower than usual, however, there are still fish to be caught!

Hotter temperatures

Hot temperatures and a smaller than normal snow pack has meant much higher temperatures in many of the drainages on the front range. Boulder County streams have luckily stayed cool. In addition, due to water at the farm coming from an underground spring, the temperature has been consistent and cool. Still, proper fish handling techniques are crucial as catch and release fishing becomes more and more popular. You can find a video here which outlines proper handling techniques for fish when the temperature is high.
