Hello everybody! Hope you’re having a great start to the 2026 year! It’s been a busy year for us, but we wanted to give an update on all the stuff we got into in 2025.

Kids Fishing Derby 2025
The Kids fishing derby was another success. Building on feedback we’ve received from previous derbies we found a better spot for the check in table and prize tent. The fishing was fantastic that day and we had a packed leader-board. Thank you again for all those who came out and a big thank you to our supporters who consistently donate fantastic prizes that keep our participants geared up to fish throughout the summer and beyond. As always, a special thank you to Colorado Parks and Wildlife who always support us in the derby with stocking fish and providing rods, reels, and help for the event.
Our new scoreboard for this year makes keeping track of the biggest fish at the derby much easier.
Fish farm update
2025 was a tough year for the farm. A mystery illness tore through our Trout population leaving us with very few fish to stock in the summer. But through the tough times we learned and found ways to better mitigate this situation. I’m happy to report the latest batch of trout have been in the farm since early fall and have been doing fantastic! The improvements are doing a great job of keeping the fish healthy.
The farm has been around for a very long time now and the runs are starting to show their age (likely over 75 years old!). While over the years lots has been done to keep the concrete runs in working order for rearing the fish, we think it may be time for a new set of runs and new concrete. We’re working through 2026 to find the right person/company to help us with that and start the fundraising process. If you or someone you know are familiar with creating concrete aquatic habitats such as fish rearing runs, please reach out. We’d love to talk. But keep checking back for updates on the project.
High Lake Stocking
For the second year, we were able to work with Colorado Parks and Wildlife on a stocking program for Lost Lake in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. The past two summers we’ve helped to introduce Tiger Trout to Lost Lake to provide additional species to fish. Before the stocking, only Brook Trout inhabited the Lake. We’re excited to see the population take hold and provide anglers in the area a great opportunity to catch unique fish.

Latest Batch of fish
As mentioned above last year was a difficult year for farm. But with our improvements to the rearing runs, we’re off to a much better start! The fish have been healthy and happy with very little loss among the population. Their color has been fantastic and our caretaker reports they even have been rising on some hatches we’ve seen at the farm due to a mild winter.

A special thank you to our supporters and volunteers
Boulder Fish and Game Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit that is completely run by volunteers with no paying positions. The club continues it’s rich tradition of serving the community through donations and volunteer hours. We appreciate all those who show up to keep the farm and kids ponds clean and the donations, monetary and otherwise, that have kept the operation running for over 115 years. We’re the oldest outdoors organization in the state of Colorado (outside of CPW) and we intend to carry on for many years to come.
If you’re interested in donating or getting involved, please reach out through the “HELP OUT” button at the top right of the webpage. There you’ll find a link to our Paypal and contact us form to learn more about helping out at the farm and with events.
Thank you again to our volunteers, supporters, and anyone out there cheering us on.
We have an instagram page!
Finally we just wanted to throw out an extra plug for our new Instagram page. We hope to update it more in 2026, but please give us a follow.
